Missouri ranks 2nd among national bellwethers

CNN’s Web site has an interesting story that spotlights Missouri as among the top “most representative’’ states in the country, best reflecting the nation as a whole.

Only Wisconsin ranked better in the analysis conducted by CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

Holland used 12 key statistics taken from the latest U.S. Census date. According the site, he used “four that measure race and ethnicity, four that look at income and education, and four that describe the typical neighborhood in each state.’’

He then used those stats to compile a list of the most average state for each one.

The Top 10:

1. Wisconsin

2. Missouri

3. Kansas

4. Indiana

5. Ohio

6. Oklahoma

7. Oregon

8. Nebraska

9. Georgia

10. Minnesota
